ATM's Found in Baldwin County Creek

ATM's Found in Baldwin County Creek

Posted: Updated:
A lot of things have been pulled out of Baldwin County waters using a line and a hook but probably never an automatic teller machine, much less two of them.

"I had noticed this thing over here." Bubba Gordon spotted something in the water, "It looked just like a console out of vehicle," and called the sheriff's office.

"I looked and I saw the thing and it said ATM I knew then it was stolen from somewhere."

Parts of that ATM came out of Wolf Creek easily. A second one took a dive team from Orange Beach and a host of deputies to pull it from the water, mud and muck. "They were pretty heavy probably weighs between two and three hundred pounds," says Melvin Shepard from Orange Beach.

Gordon is not surprised by the find, "people dump tires, appliances all along here."

No money was found. "I'm sure they tried, whoever tried, as hard as they could to get whatever out of it," says Gordon.

The question now is where did they come from and who put them there? "When you see ATM you know what it is. It's a money machine and it had to come from somewhere," says Gordon.

This isn't the first thing Gordon has found in the creek. A couple of years ago he and his son found an open safe floating by their house.

Sheriff's investigators are now looking for who is responsible.
