600 Gallons of Raw Sewage Spills in Tiawasee Creek

Posted: Updated:
An estimated 600 gallons of raw sewage spilled into Tiawasee Creek Monday evening. Health concerns are at a minimum.

Construction debris such as plywood and rags blocked a manhole, and it caused the sewage to overflow into an unnamed tributary that empties into Tiawasee Creek. Daphne Utilities unclogged the manhole within 30 minutes. Crews cleaned the visible sewage and used lime to clean any remaining traces from the creek.

Even though health risks are low, the Baldwin County Health Department advises everyone to be cautious when using Tiawasee Creek.
