Forecasters: North Ala. Likely to Get Snow

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Forecasters say north Alabama is likely to get a mix of wintry precipitation that could cause travel problems.

The National Weather Service says the northern part of the state will likely see light rain on Monday. The precipitation could become mixed with snow, sleet and freezing rain around nightfall.

Forecasters say there could be up to 1 inch of snow and sleet across north central Alabama. They warn that roads could become slippery and hazardous.

Forecasters say as much as 2 inches of snow could fall overnight Monday in a band between Birmingham and the Tennessee River. And as much as 3 inches of ice and snow is possible in northeast Alabama from Tuesday into Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory includes Birmingham north to the Tennessee line.
