Local Attorney in Spotlight After Super Bowl Ad

Local Attorney in Spotlight After Super Bowl Ad

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Ala. - Companies like Budweiser and General Mills are Super Bowl advertising regulars, but it's one ad from a local attorney that has a lot of people talking.

"The commercials, I was really disappointed with so having that local ad that he did was amazing. It was the best commercial during the entire Super Bowl in my opinion. I laughed. Yeah everybody was laughing. I thought it was great. Whoever wrote that is just a genius. It was by far his best commercial to date," said Matthew Golden with the LoDa Biergarten.

David J. Maloney has been practicing law for 22 years and says the 30 second Super Bowl spot is paying off with feedback at the job.

"Twitter has been in fire. Facebook has been nutty. I've gotten a lot of positive emails, phone calls. My receptionist says the phone has been ringing off the hook," said Maloney.

He deals with injury accidents with much of his focus on drunk driving and making sure you know he will personally return your call. But with a platform like the Super Bowl, Maloney said he had to up his game.

"It's tough to walk that tight rope and without coming across frankly for a lack of better word, cheesy. Obviously a take off of the most interesting man in the world commercials. I wanted to try to do something and I hope that I accomplished it that stood with the national ads," said Maloney.

As for that ambulance scene, Maloney says it took a few takes and he got the idea from a man he met in a sandwich shop.

"Walked into a sandwich shop one day and a guy said, 'hey you're that lawyer from T.V. chasing ambulances lately?' And my response was, 'Yeah right at this stage, ambulances chase me.' And from that, a little light went off."

This is his second time running an during the Super Bowl and it's sure to not be his last. Maloney did not mention how much the ad cost, but does say he plans to run the ad again. He also says he comes up with the creative concept and sees the production and editing through the end.
