Last Minute Shoppers Pack Bel-Air Mall

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Ala. - Shoppers of all types are making their last minute rounds at Bel-Air Mall.
I found some last minute first timers, "My first year and I'm ashamed of myself," laughs Leah Browning.
Some last minute regulars, "I like shopping period. Last minute, it don't matter. First minute, it don't matter," said Sonya Johnson.
And one guy who is done with his Christmas shopping, but just likes the holiday rush, "I just like the way the mall's always crowded and everybody seems to be in a good humor an getting along fine. Just around Christmas time, it's just a real nice time of the year," said Jim Martin.
I met several people from outside of Mobile looking to snag a few deals. Lisa Arnold is from Thomasville and dressed for the occasion in a silver Santa hat and silver boots.
"Basically all the stuff we need is down here. So we have to drive down here which is a skip and a hop for me. I am finished for today and tomorrow. I am done," said Arnold.
Lenoise Richey is also from Clarke County. He and his family have a master plan to get their shopping done in one day.
"We'll probably split up in teams. We'll break away. This one, that one and just kinda be creative because you don't want to spoil that Christmas morning cheer. So it can be tough, but that's where the crowd can help with that as well," he said.
I found another father searching for that perfect gift and is reminded that the true meaning of Christmas can't be bought in stores.
"Of course you want to be a part of the tradition, but I show love all year long. So Christmas is just another day, but we want to be a part of the tradition as well," said Will Knott.
Today is the last full shopping day. The mall will stay open until 10 o'clock tonight (Monday), then will open at 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tomorrow (Christmas Eve)
