MPD Captain and Officer Found Guilty

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Ala. - It's a sex affair that began in September and lasted into October of this year.

Captain Carla Longmire and Officer Bradley Latham are found guilty of having sex during work hours at an apartment.

During a press conference on Tuesday, police chief Jim barber says effective immediately, Longmire has been demoted from Captain to Lieutenant and will now work in community services.

Captain Paul Prine will serve as the new commander of the third precinct. Evidence in the hearing included surveillance video, records and testimony. As for officer Latham's punishment, he will face a six week suspension effective January 6th.

Longmire is charged with conduct unbecoming of an officer and failure to supervise. Latham is charged with conduct unbecoming of an officer, disobedient conduct and truthfulness during an investigation, which has to do with tampering with a police vehicle.

"It has to do with a computer disbatch system so we can see where all the police cars are. And it's also a safety feature for the officer and there are ways to attempt to disable that so that we can not see and that's what the charge was and what he's found guilty of," said Chief Barber.

The charges can be appealed to the Mobile County Personnel Board.
