Black Friday Newspaper Ads Are Out

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Alabama -

3,000 early edition newspapers were picked up Wednesday night at the Press-Register building in downtown Mobile. People lined up to get their hands on Black Friday ads.

"Some of them are real good sales. Like Best Buy with the t.v. sale and I like the boot sale at Belk," said a customer.

75 stores have inserts in the paper. It's almost like a tradition for some who make sure they're in line well ahead of the crowds.

"I'm going to get a newspaper for Black Friday, I'm crazy about Black Friday," said a customer.

"You can go ahead and start cutting out coupons, making a game plan," said Randy Kennedy.

Kennedy works for Alabama Media Group which includes the Press-Register. Each year they print the papers and the people show up.

"People are not only shopping on Black Friday but even getting a start on Thanksgiving Day," said Kennedy.

It seems more and more people are getting an early start on shopping. Malls are packed and they're ready for the Black Friday savings. A lot of stores are opening Thanksgiving night.

We're kind of avoiding the ones that are opening on Thanksgiving Day. We think they need to be closed on Thanksgiving Day," said a customer.
