AJ McCarron’s 2nd Family In the Fire Department

AJ McCarron’s 2nd Family In the Fire Department

Mobile, AL -

Around this fire station are men who've seen a lot.  Tony McCarron watches two of his sons play for the Crimson Tide.  He's seen one son, AJ, rise to helm his favorite football team and grace the cover of Sports Illustrated.

“Every dad dreams of their son playing for a major college, and now quarterback--how they are revered in this state, it's a dream,” says AJ’s dad Tony McCarron.  The men around this fire station table share in that dream too--they're a surrogate family for number 10.

“You work every third day,” says Chief John Young.  “One third of your life is at these fire stations it's one third of your life it's like your second family.  A Crimson Tide game isn't just about the sport for these guys.  They're also praying for the safety of the McCarron boys.  AJ and his brother Corey both play for Alabama--and trash talking just doesn't stand in this house.

“We hated people talking about Alabama before if you're an Alabama fan but now it's like they're talking about your family so now we're really vested in it,” says Captain Gary D’Angelo.  They share in AJ’s victories--and his life--like meeting his lovely girlfriend Katherine Webb.

“When he started dating Katherine, he had to bring her to the fire house to meet the family too, and we give him thumbs up of course but she's beautiful on the outside and good on the inside too,” says Chief John Young.  On the field he's the god like quarterback for the Crimson Tide but here at this fire station these guys remind AJ he's human too.

“These guy's keep me grounded every time AJ comes to visit here he does the dishes after dinner,” says Tony McCarron.
