Man Charged With Abusing 2 Year Old

Posted: Updated:

The Baldwin County Sheriff's office is investigating a child abuse case involving a toddler. Investigators say Steven Gerbige has been charged with torture and willful abuse of a child under 18 years of age. They say he abused his girlfriends son while he was in his care.

While interviewing Gerbige, deputies say he told them the victim fell down 3-4 stairs while playing, causing the injuries, and that he did not feel the injuries needed medical attention.

The child was taken to USA Medical Center with numerous bruises and scrapes on his face and neck and his face was swollen.

Gerbige is being held at the Baldwin County Corrections Center with no bond.
