War Memorial Removed From Battleship Memorial Park

Mobile, AL -

A Vietnam War memorial over a decade old was removed from Battleship Memorial Park after being damaged over the weekend.
The steel memorial is oval-shaped and is meant to resemble bracelets worn to memorialize missing prisoners of war. According to
park officials, the statue was twisted and slanted and now points toward the ground.

Bill Tunnel, the park's Executive Director, told AL.com there's a chance the damage was accidental, and that no one has claimed
responsibility. Doctor Barry Booth, known for his work with the Honor Flight Program, designed the memorial. He says it could take
months to replace.
