Mobile, AL -

Police are trying to find a gunman who killed a man in Mobile. The body of Joseph O'Brien was found in a post office parking lot on the corner of Springhill and Broad.

Officers got the call Wednesday just before midnight. Upon arrival, officers found O’Brien with an apparent gunshot wound.  Mobile Fire-Rescue responded and the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

“Its heartbreaking. It's heart breaking to think that one of the good guys in the world. This is one of the guys in world you wanted out there living on your street and it is heartbreaking and we are devastated, we were absolutely devastated,” said Father John Lyons of Little Flower Catholic Church.

Father Lyons had just seen O’Brien hours earlier helping out at the church.

Family and friends say O’Brien had gone out for a bike ride. Normally when he'd go with his wife, but she stayed home that night. Hours later she was notified that his body had been found. Police say right now they no motive and no suspect.

“It's early in the investigation and really at this point we are just asking for the help of the public and if anybody saw anything just give us a call and help us with this investigation,” said Sgt. Chris Levy of the Mobile Police Department.

O’Brien leaves behind a wife and three children.
