2nd Grader In Trouble For Bringing Toy Gun To School

FOLEY, Alabama -

Police officers in Foley thought they were responding to a potential emergency Monday when a school bus driver working his afternoon shift reported a child with a gun.

The bus driver told police the gun was found in a 2nd grader's backpack.

Officers stopped and surrounded the school bus, only to find out the firearm the seven-year old was carrying wasn't real- it was a plastic, toy gun.

Police confiscated the toy, took the kid to headquarters and called police.

The student will likely lose bus privileges. Supt. Dr.  Alan Lee tells News 5 any disciplinary action will be handled by the principal.

The child has not been charged, but the Foley Police Dept. has notified the district attorney's office about the toy gun incident.
