MOBILE, Ala. -

Officer Zachary Jordan, Jr., who has served as a Mobile police officer for over nine years, currently serves as an officer in the Fourth Precinct and will be awarded the honor for his exceptional performance during the month of September.

The following incidents are examples of the excellent performance for which Officer Jordan is being awarded:

Officer Jordan was on patrol when he noticed a vehicle driving recklessly.  A pursuit was initiated which ended when the subject jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.  Officer Jordan was able to take the suspect into custody.  Investigation revealed the subject, who was a habitual offender, had just committed a residential burglary and the vehicle he was driving was stolen.

Officer Jordan was also able to clear multiple residential burglaries in his beat when, on three separate occasions, he was able to take into custody juveniles who were breaking into homes and stealing various articles, including guns.  These arrests not only prevented additional residential burglaries from taking place, but also took illegally-obtained guns off the streets and out of the hands of juveniles.

During the month of September, Officer Jordan serviced 103 calls, backed 32 calls, made nine felony and five misdemeanor arrests and issued 13 citations.

Officer Jordan’s initiative and enthusiasm in performing his duties show a proactive police style which is an asset to the Mobile Police Department.  His success is the result of high-quality police work.
