Baldwin Beaches Open, Water Remains Closed

Posted: Updated:
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. - Double red flags are flying for the third day in a row on Baldwin County Beaches meaning no one is allowed in the water. The beaches, however remain open for visitors.

Melvin Shepard, Aquatics and Beach Safety Director tells News 5 there is a threat of dangerous rip currents in the gulf, which could be life-threatening if anyone is caught in them.

If anyone is caught in the waters of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores with double red flags flying, they can be fined by police.

Shepard tells News 5 the flags could be changed to red flags on Monday.
