Pensacola Beach Watching Karen

Pensacola Beach Watching Karen

Posted: Updated:
PENSACOLA BEACH -

For the most part, it's business as usual at this point for folks on Pensacola Beach, but EMA officials are closely watching Tropical Storm Karen in the Gulf.

Red flags are flying at Pensacola Beach....only surfers are currently allowed in the water.

If double reds are posted, the Gulf would be closed to everyone.

Swimmers ignoring the flag warning system can be fined and ticketed.

Wave action will continue to build this weekend....waves Friday were 6-7 feet high.

EMA officials are preparing for the possibility of coastal flooding, beach erosion and gusty winds as Karen gets closer to the panhandle.
