PD Chief Candidate Introduced in Prichard.

MOBILE, Alabama -

The city of Prichard was introduced to pick to be the next police chief. City officials held a press conference with Jerry Speziale, who was picked by the mayor as the city's top cop.

However Speziale has not yet been confirmed by the city council and many citizens have already come questioning the pick and Speziale's commitment to the job.

The candidate says he is fully on board.

"How could you think that this is a bad career move? This is a city that needs help. If I come in here. And I will come in here and fix this city with the support of the council and the support of the mayor and the support of the community, we can't go wrong,” said Speziale.

The Prichard city council is set to meet Thursday night where they are expected to take a vote on Speziale's contract.

“This choice is for my council, and it is hard to even conceive that he will not be welcomed and appointed tomorrow,” said Mayor Troy Ephraim.
