Hillsborough school bus driver investigated for texting while driving

Hillsborough County School officials are investigating a bus driver for texting while driving after a Walker Middle School student shot video that appears to show the driver texting while driving a bus filled with kids.

In the video, obtained by News Channel 8, it appears the driver is texting for about 15 seconds with her right hand while steering the bus with her left hand.

Tanya Arja, a spokeswoman from the Hillsborough County School Board said the driver is Melody Lang and she has been with the county since 2007. She said that Lang has been pulled off the route and given non driving duties until the investigation is complete and that further disciplinary action is possible.

Hillsborough County Schools has a policy that prohibits drivers from using their phones while driving.
