Bradley Byrne and Dean Young will advance to the GOP runoff in Alabama's 1st Congressional District. The primary election will be held on November 5th.

Byrne was the frontrunner in the race and pulled ahead early. With more than three-fifth of the precincts reporting Tuesday night, unofficial returns show Byrne had 33%.

The race then was close between Chad Fincher and Dean Young.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., with 15% Chad Fincher conceded saying, ""It looks like tonight is not going to go our way. Win or lose, we'll have a party anyway."

Businessman Dean Young, who focused on godly principles in his campaign will face Bradley Byrne on November 5th for the primary election. With more than three-fifth of the precincts reporting, Young pulled away with 25% of the votes.

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore celebrated with Young saying Young is a "real man." He went on to say, men like Young are "sorely lacking in Washington. He stands for what the majority of Americans stand for."

Burton LeFlore won the democratic race. The real estate agent won over Lula Albert-Kaigler with about 70% of the vote.

LeFlore advances to the general election Dec. 17.

The office came open in August when Republican Jo Bonner announced he was taking a job with the University of Alabama System.
