Saenger Theatre Contract Passes

Saenger Theatre Contract Passes

Posted: Updated:
MOBILE, Alabama -

The contract was voted down last week.  Today it passed seven to zero.  This week there are some changes.  One change says there are options if the Saenger operates with a loss greater than $200,000 in contract years one and two.  If the Saenger runs a deficient greater than $200,000 then the city would have the option to terminate the contract or SMG would pay for the amount over the $200,000 threshold.

The council’s lawyer says this would hold the city at a predictable expense for the Saenger theatre.  Council member Fred Richardson seemed eager to vote on the deal.  Last week the vote was four to three in favor of the contract but it needs five yea votes to pass.
