Byrne Leads Fundraising in 1st Congressional Race

Mobile, AL - Former two-year college chancellor Bradley Byrne leads in the fundraising for the 1st Congressional District special election in southwest Alabama. 


Byrne's latest campaign finance report shows he brought in nearly $242,000 between July 1 and Sept. 4. That raised his total to more than $317,000. Campaign spokesman Alex Schriver told al.com that the Republican candidate is confident he has the resources to run a successful campaign.

Former newspaper columnist Quin Hillyer is second among the nine Republican candidates with more than $165,000. He's followed closely by Wells Griffith with $162,000. State Rep. Chad Fincher in next with $92,000.

The primary election is Sept. 24.
