Lakeland film crew shooting movie all week

If you spy the lights, camera and action of Hollywood on the streets of Lakeland this week it's not your imagination. A film crew from Lakeland's NFocus Productions is shooting a short film for release Jan. 1.

It's called Cross Point, and it's being paid for by Lakeland's First Baptist Church at the Mall.

"The desire for this film is that it would be used nationwide," explained NFocus partner and film director Jim Carleton.

He says the faith-based film is about a successful businessman turned motorcycle enthusiast who's searching for something missing in his life.

"The motorcycles are sort of a metaphor for things in life that tend to distract us from priorities," Carleton said.

Orlando-based actor Adam Vernier landed the starring role.
"I've never been asked to do a part for, you know, some sort of a visual message to our church, so it's nice to be a part of this," Vernier said.

Both NFocus and Vernier have feature film credits, but this movie with a Christian message is a first for both. NFocus plans to shoot for the next six days and then have the 30-minute film ready for release after the first of the year.

As for the next week, the film crew may be spotted at a variety of locations around Lakeland.

"We're going to be shooting around the historic district, the Lake Morton area a little bit," Carleton said. "We will be shooting actually out on I-4.There will be a lot of motorcycle riding scenes on the highway out there."
