MOBILE, Ala. -

A special worship service is being held for police, firefighters and other first responders in Mobile.

The "Blue Mass" will be held Friday afternoon at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile.

The mass is an annual event that's meant for emergency workers to receive prayers and blessings from the church for their service.

This marks the 12th year the mass has been held in memory of first responders since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The service is open to the public.
