Labor Day A Mix Of Rain And Sun At Local Beaches

Posted: Updated:
GULF SHORES, Alabama -

Labor Day 2013 started off a little on the wet side at beaches in Baldwin County.

Heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds forced beach goers to leave the beach in the morning.

One thunderstorm parked on top of the Foley-Gulf Shores area for more than an hour around mid-morning. For a while, it looked like the holiday was going to be a wash-out.

But by early afternoon, the storms fizzled and sunshine peeked out of the clouds.

By mid-afternoon, much of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach were bathed in sunshine.

The weather at the beach hasn't been great this summer in South Baldwin County. Beach goers had to deal with multiple days of downpours and afternoon thunderstorms.
