Tropical Storm Fernand Heading for Mexico

Tropical Depression Six has intensified into Tropical Storm Fernand in the Bay of Campeche. Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for the coast of Mexico from Veracruz to Tampico.

Maximum sustained winds are 50 mph and the system is moving west at 9 mph. Fernand is located 25 miles E of Veracruz and 160 miles SE of Tuxpan, Mexico.

The system should make landfall late Sunday night through early Monday morning. Heavy, tropical rains are expected to be the main concern with this system.

Fernand will not affect weather on the northern Gulf Coast.
