Baldwin EMC Phone Scam Alert

Baldwin EMC Phone Scam Alert

Posted: Updated:
BALDWIN COUNTY -

Baldwin EMC representatives are issuing a warning to the cooperative's members about a possible phone scam.

The alert follows a recent report of someone calling a local business owner claiming to represent Baldwin EMC, threatening to disconnect her power if she did not immediately make a payment over the phone.

Baldwin EMC says this was not a legitimate call from them and is not in line with the co-op's procedures.

Baldwin EMC says they do not use phone contacts to communicate important information,  and members will never be forced to make a payment over the phone to avoid having their power cut off.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to represent Baldwin EMC who tries to force you to make a payment over the phone, please be aware that this may be a scam.

Don't give out any sensitive information to anyone you don't trust. And if you receive a suspicious call, please report it to Baldwin EMC by calling (800) 837-3374.
