Girl, 4, Hospitalized in Tuscaloosa Shooting

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -

Police in Tuscaloosa say they're searching for the gunman who shot at a house and wounded a 4-year-old girl.

Authorities say the girl was not the intended target and the shots that were fired at the house Saturday night were meant someone else who lives there.

The girl's grandmother, La Shonda Haprer-Gibson, tells the Tuscaloosa News she and her grandchildren had just fallen asleep when they were woken up by the sound of gunshots.

Harper-Gibson says she grabbed the children, took cover in a hallway and didn't realize the girl had been shot until she turned on a light.

The girl was taken to Children's of Alabama in Birmingham and was expected to undergo surgery.
