Emergency Response Times Shortened In Foley

Emergency Response Times Shortened In Foley

Posted: Updated:
FOLEY, Alabama -

The east side of Foley is relatively quiet now, but the area near the Foley Beach Express and County Road 20 could soon be one of the busiest parts of the county if a multi-million dollar entertainment complex called Blue Collar Country.

More people means the need for more emergency services- and to accommodate that need- the city will build a new fire station on County Road 20 near the Beach Express.

The 600-thousand, five-thousand square foot fire station will provide 24-hour emergency service- and will dramatically cut response time from the city's main fire station near downtown to the eastern half of the city.

Currently, it takes firefighters 15 to 18 minutes to respond from downtown to the extreme eastern side of Foley.

Response times from the new station will only take between seven and ten minutes.

Construction on the new fire station will begin later this year- the station will open in late 2014.
