Late Luggage Bus Worries Terminal Officials

Late Luggage Bus Worries Terminal Officials

MOBILE, Ala. -

Cruise Terminal General Manager Sheila Gurganus described the events of Monday as going "smooth as silk."

"For us to do this and show the cruise industry that we can do it, that's big," said Gurganus.

Big in the fact that by the end of the day, Mobile will have seen between 90 and 100 buses bringing nearly 3,700 people for this voyage. People that bus drivers tell us were taking the setback in stride.

Even those who experienced a minor hiccup were still in good spirits.

Honeymooners Zach and Stephanie Beswick came in on Conquest Sunday, but missed their flight out of New Orleans back to Michigan.

"Luckily Delta flies out of Mobile so we switched it to 4:00 today. A little unexpected there at the end, but it worked out okay for us so, no worries," said Zach.

Although the last passenger bus is scheduled to arrive by 4:30, in time for their 5:00 deadline, if the bus carrying all the luggage is late, these passengers might lose another day of vacation.

"And that's the big thing, we've got the people here to unload them but we haven't received the first truck yet," said Gurganus.
