Neighbors: Elderly Mother Couldn't Escape Fire

CHICKASAW, ALABAMA -

Chickasaw Police and Firefighters responded to a home in flames on 9th Avenue just before 9 p.m. Friday evening.

When News 5 arrived on scene the street was shutdown to traffic and crime scene tape surrounded the home.

Neighbors tell News 5 a husband and wife, along with his elderly mother, were inside the home when a fire broke out.

Neighbors say the elderly mother didn't make it out of the home alive, but authorities haven't confirmed any details as of 10:30 p.m. with News 5.

Witnesses say they could see the flames from the home across the neighborhood.

We're told the man was rushed to USA Medical Center.
