Parasail Girls Make Improvements; Remain Critical

Heartbreaking video we've all seen of Sidney Good and Alexis Fairchild shows them crashing into a condo building after their parasail tore away from the boat pulling it in Panama City Beach.

All witnesses could do was call for help.

"We are at the commodore and a parasail just smashed into the top of it!," a frantic 911 caller said.

Wednesday, a new picture surfaced. The person who snapped it took it about ten minutes before the horrific accident happened.

The picture shows low-lying, ominous storm clouds in the background-- the reason the girls were being reeled in, when their line snapped.

Witnesses like Ricky Mcghee argue the operators should have taken action much earlier.

"It was clear to me there should have been a concerted effort to get those kids down much earlier than they did. The operators probably waited 20 30 minutes too long to get them in," Mcghee said.

Once the girls hit the condo, they were carried over the building, and guided right into a strand of power lines.

"It was like a blue firework exploded," said another witness.

This is not the first para sailing accident to happen in Panama City Beach.

"Several years back, evidently a parachute broke loose and the men ended up on a flag pole at the La Vila club," said Mcghee.

The parasail company, Aquatic Adventures out of Panama City Beach released a statement saying,

"Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families of the injured girls and we all pray for their speedy recovery.

We adhere to best practices to minimize the risks associated with water sport activities. As a full investigation is on going, we are unable to comment further at this time."

There are several lawsuits filed against the company for negligence-- including, another incident where two other girls from Indiana ripped away from their boat.

Fortunately, they fell into the water and were okay.

There are positive improvements for Sidney Good and Alexis Fairchild. Their parents say both girls came out of surgery with thumbs up.

They both remain in critical condition with head injuries and several lacerations.
