"Sugar Daddy" Billboard Stirring Controversy

"Sugar Daddy" Billboard Stirring Controversy

Posted: Updated:

Jefferson County commissioners have added their objections to a controversial billboard that suggest young women date a "sugar daddy" if they're in search of a summer job.

The commission on Thursday approved a nonbinding resolution to ask the owners to remove the billboard.

Commission President David Carrington tells Al.com that he's received more than a thousand emails in opposition to the billboard.

A.J. Preston, marketing director for the online dating site ArrangementFinders.com, said he has received more than 1,000 signups in the Birmingham area. ArrangementFinders.com has been advertising on billboards around the country, drawing the ire of many residents.

Arrangements.com representatives told WBMA-TV that it's critical that the company targets young women and college students in the Birmingham area, and that it had no plans to remove the billboard.
