Dozens of people are out searching for a missing 8-year-old autistic boy. Owen Black was last seen Friday afternoon on Perdido Key Drive in the vicinity of the Needle Rush condos.

Deputies say the boy was wearing a red and blue striped shirt and brown sweat pants. He has short blondish brown hair, brown eyes and is small for his age (4 ft, 45 lbs) .

"We are currently conducting an intense search effort for Owen Black who has been missing since approximately 5:00 pm yesterday afternoon," said Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan. "It is my honor to announce our partnership with the following agencies: Florida Marine Patrol, the U.S. Navy, Civil Air Patrol, Escambia Search and Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Klaas Foundation, the Navy and Escambia County Fire Departments, local media outlets and the Search Rescue units from Orange Beach, Mobile, Baldwin County and Bay County. I would also like to thank the Happy Harbor Coffee Shop as well as the many volunteers have come forward to assist in the search and those that are following and sharing information via social media. Thank you all for your generous support. We will be providing updates via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/OfficialECSO as the search continues. "
