MOBILE, Alabama -

A group of seniors say they are on alert after noticing a disturbing trend at their apartment complex.

People that live at the Gardens at Wellington in Tillman's Corner say they have seen a rash of car break-ins at their complex, about half a dozen this month, and this week one vehicle was complex was stolen.

Residents say they're now concerned the thieves are stepping up their crimes.

"I am just sick to my stomach that somebody could come in on this bright sunshiny day, notice what is here, then come back that night and take it. Why?" said Carolann Wilkinson.

"I mean the cars now, what's going to be next? Going to be able to walk out in the parking lot without being robbed," said Travis Jones.

Some of the seniors say they think they are being targeted. Police say they have experienced an uptick in car burglaries in general in the area.
