Posted: Updated:

The second littoral combat ship built in Mobile headed out of town this morning.  The USS Coronado set sail at about 8 AM Wednesday morning.  This is the fourth littoral combat ship ever built.  An Austal spokesman says it's going into the gulf for another day of builder's trials in the Gulf of Mexico.

It will leave Mobile permanently at a later date.   Austal is under contract with the US Navy to build 10 more of these vessels.
