Erosion Problems In Spanish Fort

Erosion Problems In Spanish Fort

Posted: Updated:
Spanish Fort, Alabama -

Recent heavy rainfall has caused serious erosion problems at homes on Patrician Lane in Spanish Fort.

Sinkholes has formed and the edge of the bluff is eroding and collapsing.

This isn't a new problem- erosion has been an issue on the bluffs for more than a decade.

The cliff off Patrician Lane has been slowly eroding since 1997- when Hurricane Danny hit.

Several homeowners are suing the city of Spanish Fort- but the city's attorney says the erosion problem isn't the city's responsibility.

Attorney David Conner says homeowners take certain risks when buying land or property.

Several residents have built or will build expensive retaining walls to keep the erosion from getting closer to their homes.
