Local Football Star Picks Up Another Rape Charge

Local Football Star Picks Up Another Rape Charge

Posted: Updated:

Another sexual assault charge has been filed against for a former standout player at Spanish Fort High School.

Deon Johnson is now facing his fourth sexual assault charge in the past year.

An indictment came down Thursday on Johnson in which he was charged with forcible rape. That's in addition to another forcible rape, statutory rape charge and sodomy charges he picked up last September.

Prosecutors say the crimes involve three separate victims.

"The fact that he played football doesn't mean anything to me. It doesn't mean that I am going to treat him more harshly it doesn't mean that I am going to treat him more lenient. The fact is that he is charged with some very serious crimes and we are going to prosecute him to the fullest," said Baldwin County Assistant District Attorney Teresa Heinz.

Johnson is currently being held in the Baldwin County Jail. He has an arraignment set for May 22.
