DAPHNE, Ala. -

Alabama State Troopers are working an accident on the Mobile Bayway.

A tractor trailer drove off the side of the bayway, westbound, just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

Traffic was down to one lane, westbound moving slowly, but troopers are working hard to clear the scene.

Daphne Search and Rescue tells News 5 the driver of the truck is okay. She is being transported for medical attention. She was the only one in the vehicle at the time.

Passersby who witnessed the accident, including the manager of a Target store in West Mobile, climbed over the guardrail and down to the muddy water to help free the driver.

The female driver is a 12 year employee of Mobile Forest Products which owns the truck.

Another vehicle, a small pickup was also involved and suffered slight damage.  There were no other injuries.

There is no word yet on how the accident happened.
