Day 2 of Trial for Winn Dixie Shooting Suspect

MOBILE, Ala. -

Day 2 of the Jackeith Harrison trial is underway in a Mobile courtroom.

Prosecutors say Harrison shot and attempted to kill a police officer during an armed robbery at the Winn Dixie in midtown Mobile.

The armed robbery at the Winn Dixie was more than a year ago, but that night is still very much a vivid memory to a lot of the witnesses who took the stand Tuesday morning.

The jury heard from several current and former Winn Dixie employees who where there the night of the armed robbery, as well as Officer Chad Wynne.

Mobile District Attorney Ashley Rich showed the jury the graphic body cam video that was strapped onto Officer Wynne when he was shot in the chest.

The jury heard Officer Wynne screaming in pain for several minutes until his fellow officers grabbed him and drove him to USA Medical Center.

The jury also heard several 911 calls from people in the area, many of whom were panicking as they continued hearing gunshots from the supermarket.

A surgeon at USA Medical Center who operated on Officer Wynne also spoke. Wynne almost died when the bullet went all the way through his body and out of his back.

Defense Attorney Bob Clark, who is known to many as Cowboy Bob, maintains that because the suspects were wearing masks, it is almost impossible to identify that his client Jackeith Harrison was the shooter.
