WWII Veteran Receives Bronze Star 68 Years Later

68 years after he used his bazooka to fight off ambushing Germany soldiers in the Rhineland, James Philpot was awarded the Bronze Star for his act of Valor.

Rep. Jo Bonner presented the award to Philpot during a town hall meeting in Wilmer on Monday.

Philpot was assigned as an infantry man to an anti-tank company that manuevered through France and Germany.

Rep. Bonner says 'Paperwork gets sent, sometimes it gets lost.'

His office intervened with the Defense Department to retrieve the medal Mr. Philpot earned.
