Cleaning Up Illegal Trash Dumps

Cleaning Up Illegal Trash Dumps

Posted: Updated:
MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, ALABAMA -

The Alabama Dept. of Environmental Management has identified at least five illegal trash dumps in Baldwin County.

The dumps are in the southern part of the county- near Magnolia Springs, Bon Secour and Perdido Beach.

The dump sites are full of used tires, electronics, lumber and construction debris- even household garbage.

The illegal dumps are potential health hazards.

Cleaning up the dumps will cost at least 35-thousand dollars.

The Baldwin County Solid Waste Dept. will handle the clean-up and send ADEM the bill.

But Alabama drivers will ultimately pick up the tab.

Everytime you buy new tires, you pay a scrap tire dispoal fee. That money is used to clean up illegal tire and trash dumps.
