6 Year Old Killed in Escambia County Crash

Posted: Updated:

A single-vehicle crash this morning claimed the life of a 6-year old and injured two others.  Lisa Hart, 27, of Brewton was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy when she ran off the road, struck a telephone pole and overturned.  Hart and passenger Christopher Dean, 31, of Repton were transported to DW McMillan Hospital in Brewton for treatment of their injuries.

Hart's daughter, Alexis Pugh, was pronounced dead at the scene. Seat belts were not in use in the crash that occurred on Alabama 41 three miles north of Brewton.  Although the investigation into the crash continues, Alabama State Troopers say speed was a factor in the crash.
