On April 17, 2013, at approximately 2:30 p.m. the Criminal Interdiction Unit of the Walton County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 in the area of mile marker 84.   The investigation began when deputies noticed a vehicle following too close to other vehicles.  Law enforcement stopped the suspect vehicle and made contact with the driver and passenger.  The odor of marijuana was noted by deputies upon their initial contact with those in the vehicle.  When asked about the smell, the driver admitted to marijuana being in the vehicle.

A K-9 was deployed and alerted on the suspect's vehicle and camper. One passenger, Bryan J. Morgan, 31, of New Orleans, LA, admitted to possessing the following: 30 grams of marijuana, a marijuana pipe, and a digital scale.  Another passenger, Kristen Marshall, 33, of New Orleans, LA, was found in Marshall's possession:  30 grams of Marijuana, 2.5 Oxycodone pills, 1 Soma pill, ½ of tablet believed to be Hydrocodone, 2 pieces of Xanax bars, 8 small pills believed to be MDMA, 45 hits of LSD, a small amount of methamphetamine.

Due to Morgan's cooperation in the investigation, he was charged with Possession of Marijuana less than 20 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  He was issued a Notice to Appear.  Marshall was charged with Possession of Marijuana over 20 grams, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Trafficking in LSD (more than 1 gram), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  She was transported and booked into the Walton County Department of Corrections.
