Death Toll Rises In Plant Explosion

WEST, Texas -

  Police in West, Texas say between five and fifteen people are dead following a massive explosion at a fertilizer plant.

Witnesses say an area about four blocks square was flattened by the blast.

The explosion happened Wednesday evening at West Fertilizer, about 20 miles north of Waco, Texas.

More than 160 people were injured. A triage area was set up at the local high school football field to process the injured.

Search and rescue operations continue and the number of dead and injured is expected to rise.

Authorities say it appears the blast was an industrial accident and nothing else.
