FOLEY, Alabama -

Six high-school students in Baldwin County recently competed for start-up capital to open and operate their own business.

The competition was part of the Young Entrepreneur Academy at Foley High School- an academy that teaches future business owners how to successfully operate their own company.

The academy is sponsored by the Baldwin Business Support Center and the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce.

The kids had to pitch their business proposals and marketing strategies to actual investors.

Gabby Griffin won the local event. Investors gave Griffin 18-hundred dollars to start her tortilla company.

Griffin will compete for a full, college scholarship on the national level later this month.
