Homemade Bomb Explodes In Mailbox

MOBILE, Alabama -

John Jonston wants answers. This isn't just a plastic bottle, it's part of a homemade bomb that went off early Friday morning inside his mailbox.

"I'm worried about it being a bigger bomb and where's it going to go, will it be my house or my neighbor's house," said the homeowner.

He doesn't know why he was targeted. The damage is hardly visible to his mailbox, but he's worried the person may strike again.

"They just told me it's a postal matter and they were very brief about it," said Johnston.

To make matters worse he says Mobile Police never filed a report when they showed up to investigate.

A quick call to Mobile Police confirmed that's true. They say Johnston didn't want to file a report, but they offered to send an officer back out to file a report after our call.

"Making a threat of some sort I don't know why I don't understand I don't know why," said Johnston.

The vehicle is described as a dark colored SUB with a lift kit. Police say the crime is misdemeanor third degree, meaning that the damage was less than $500.
