Former U of A Athletic Director Mal Moore Dies

 The University of Alabama announced today that former athletic director Mal Moore passed away today at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

He was awaiting a lung transplant.

His death comes 11 days after Moore stepped down from the position he held since 1999.

Moore played for the University of Alabama under legendary coach Paul Bear Bryant and later served as an assistant coach.

He was a part of 10 national championships at the Capstone, the last three with head coach Nick Saban, who Moore hired.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Mal Moore was 73 years old.
