Easy Weather for Labor Day

Updated:
MOBILE, Alabama -

This Labor Day weekend continues with fairly decent weather conditions, considering the extremes we can see in heat, rain, lightning and tropical weather in late August. That's not to say there won't be any showers.

Plan for another muggy night with temperatures only resting in the middle 70s. Patchy fog may form in the spots that get some rain. Tomorrow delivers pop-up thunderstorms over a quarter of the area. Most of us won't get wet but where it rains, it could come down hard since the atmosphere is so moist. With only slight adjustments, you can extend this forecast into the middle of the upcoming week.

Looking back at weather stats for August, temperatures for this month have come out to be right at typical. That is an average of each day's high and low. Rainfall has been below average, although for the year, our area is still above average.

There is a tropical wave moving across the Yucatan and it will continue westward into the southern Gulf and head toward Mexico or southern Texas with a small chance of developing into a tropical depression by midweek. It will not directly affect us, regardless of what it does or doesn't do.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents at the beaches tomorrow. Rain coverage there will be less than 20%.

As our night ahead stays generally quiet in the middle 70s, expect daytime highs to linger in the lower 90s for coastal counties, and middle 90s for inland counties. Each day through the week, somebody will get wet.
