Smooth and Seasonable Weather Here

Updated:
MOBILE, Alabama -

Fluffy cumulus clouds today told the story of a light northeast wind and low humidity, for August. In the days to come a few clouds grow taller- tall enough to produce showers, and then thunderstorms, by the weekend.

Our peaceful morning led to an afternoon of typical temperatures close to 90 for most of us. We have a quiet night and no threat from Hurricane Cristobal. Cristobal should pass far enough west of Bermuda to not be a major problem there. There's a region of low pressure south of Louisiana that is unlikely to become a tropical system but it will still produce rain along the Louisiana coast as it moves westward to Texas.

Our forecast is dry tonight. Lows will range from the middle 60s for inland counties, to the lower 70s for coastal counties. Winds remain out of the northeast.

Tomorrow and Thursday don't have much change. Cumulus clouds may produce a late-afternoon shower. Highs stick in the lower 90s but it will be a bit warmer in inland counties. By Friday we'll get a few thunderstorms that will increase over the weekend so expect 30% coverage of showers and thunderstorms for Saturday through Labor Day.
