TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama coach Nick Saban says the proposed 10-second rule is about safety not getting a competitive advantage for defenses. Saban noted Wednesday that statistics indicate the Crimson Tide defense doesn't need that edge.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - Brandon Beachy pitched three no-hit innings in his second start since having shoulder surgery in September and B.J. Upton doubled among his two hits for the Atlanta braves, who tied the Philadelphia Phillies 2-2 Wednesday. Beachy's outing was a significant improvement over his first outing, when he gave up five hits and two runs in 1 2-3 innings against Houston.
