TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The state Supreme Court has ruled that employers cannot discriminate against pregnant women under the state's civil rights act. The court overturned a lower court in the case of a woman who worked for a South Florida property developer. She alleged the company began extra scrutiny of her work and refused to schedule her post maternity leave.
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested a student who stabbed another student inside the gym at a South Florida high school. A Sunrise police spokeswoman says the victim is being treated at a local hospital.
LAKE MARY, Fla. (AP) - A Florida woman who was attacked by a bear last weekend says she doesn't want bears to be killed. Terri Frana says Lake Mary residents need to learn to expect wild bears and understand their danger. Wildlife officials have killed more than a half dozen bears since last Saturday's attack.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida's wildlife commission has given preliminary approval of a ban on lionfish imports. It also wants to make it easier for more people to catch lionfish in the wild. Aquarium shops would be allowed to obtain new lionfish from divers. Lawmakers also are working on bills that would implement the ban.
